K2A not only focuses on conventional forms of knowledge dissemination, but also on dialogue, imparting particular skills and collective learning across professions. Keeping in line with K2A’s ideologies, my work aims at bridging the gap between scientific research and its potential users.

Led by NCCR Nepal, this initiative aimed to bridge the gap between grassroots success and national policy. Research reveals that household 3R practices and organic composting can reduce landfill waste by 75%. To scale these results, the project utilized national media advocacy to sensitize federal and provincial decision-makers, aiming to institutionalize decentralized waste management in line with SDG 6.

The project successfully secured policy commitments for inter-sectoral collaboration and gender-responsive governance. Key outputs include:

  • Formalization: Mandating municipal contracts with women-led waste cooperatives.
  • Inclusion: Ensuring women’s representation in landfill selection and federal planning.
  • Safety & Subsidies: Implementing gender-specific safety standards and subsidies for waste-based enterprises like rooftop farming.

By transforming “post-crisis” lessons into televised policy debates, this project creates accountability for sustainable, inclusive urban waste solutions across Nepal.
